Twelfth Point of Presence in Germany will provide robust, high-speed IP transit to this global financial capital
FRANKFURT and FREMONT, CALIF – November 18, 2020 – Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone announced today that it has deployed a new Point of Presence (PoP) in ITENOS’s Frankfurt FRA 1 data center. The new PoP is located at 90 Kleyerstraße, Frankfurt am Main, 60326, Germany.
The Frankfurt FRA 1 data center is ITENOS’s largest data center with direct access to Europe’s central internet exchange node DE-CIX, and over 14,000m2 of floor area. This data center is strategically located to serve customers in this global financial center, home to the European Central Bank and the German stock exchange. Users get access to high-performance connections to more than 150 carriers and service providers, connecting traffic across central Europe.
According to recent reports, Frankfurt’s startup ecosystem is valued at approximately $1.5 billion, and is high growth in areas such as Fintech and Cybersecurity. In 2019 Frankfurt was in the top 25 for global ecosystems in Fintech. Frankfurt is also home to the European Central Bank, Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and 85 other multinational banking headquarters. This PoP is Hurricane Electric’s 6th location in Frankfurt and 12th in Germany. It will provide enterprises in the greater Frankfurt area with improved fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management in the delivery of next generation IP connectivity services.
“With our sixth location in Frankfurt, Hurricane Electric stands ready to provide the high-speed IP transit necessary to power Frankfurt’s bustling technology ecosystem,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “Additionally, this new Point of Presence will provide ITENOS’s customers and local ISPs with improved access to our robust global network.”
Customers of ITENOS in and around Frankfurt now have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, customers at the facility are able to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with over 8,000 different networks via more than 250 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.
