In a new podcast, Ericsson’s Chief Technology Officer, Erik Ekudden, talks about his vision for future network platforms and the driving forces behind technology evolution.
In the annual CTO Tech Trends, Erik Ekudden identified seven key technology trends that are defining the network platform of the future. In a new episode of the Ericsson News Podcast, we sat down with Erik to hear more about these trends and to get his thoughts on how new emerging technologies are paving the way for intelligent digital infrastructures.
Part of the discussion touched upon the unprecedented events of 2020, the importance of digital infrastructure and the rapid digitalization across industries.
“If you look at this pandemic it has forced many companies and individuals to look into a very rapid transformation. What is clear is that you are relying even more on the infrastructure – the digital infrastructure is becoming critical infrastructure for society,” says Ekudden.
Looking ahead, increasingly advanced technologies will expand the capabilities of digital infrastructure. These future technologies will enable a fully digitalized, automated and programmable world of connected humans, machines, things and places. Traffic in future networks will be generated not only by human communication but also by connected, intelligent machines and bots that are embedded with artificial intelligence (AI).
