Bandwidth & T-Mobile finalize STIR/SHAKEN interoperability for legacy Sprint customers

Bandwidth announced the completion of testing and launch of STIR/SHAKEN interop for legacy Sprint customers on T-Mobile. The exchange of validated traffic is another step in Bandwidth’s, and the industries, efforts to combat illegal and malicious robocalling.

One of the first major carriers to implement STIR/SHAKEN protocols, Bandwidth deployed a solution in our network in December 2019 in advance of the FCC’s June 30, 2021 deadline for STIR/SHAKEN implementation. Since that launch, we’ve partnered with Verizon Wireless, Comcast, and T-Mobile on interoperability agreements. Bandwidth authenticates more than 4 billion calls each month on behalf of our customers.

An active member of the STIR/SHAKEN ecosystem, Bandwidth participates in industry working groups within the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS), as well as being a vocal advocate with key members of the FCC. Bandwidth is committed to continuing to build out solutions and network features to mitigate illegal and malicious robocalling and phone number spoofing tactics that have caused widespread mistrust by consumers in the calls they receive. We’re also working to develop new features to ensure that valid use cases, such as calls from contact centers, school notifications, and forwarded calls are not wrongfully blocked using the STIR/SHAKEN framework.
