Premium colocation contract has been executed to support
the expansion of Seabras-1 within Brazil
PRESS RELEASE:
SÃO PAULO Brazil. 17 June 2020 -ODATA, provider of the most modern data center infrastructure in Latin America, announced that Seaborn Networks (Seaborn), a leading developer-owner-operator of submarine fiber optic cable systems, has selected ODATA as a new Point of Presence (POP) for Seaborn’s local network in Brazil.
ODATA’s DC SP01 will act as a Point of Presence (POP) for Seaborn’s local network in São Paulo. ODATA will host the full suite of Seaborn’s services positioning itself as an interconnection point for the Seabras-1 submarine cable between New York (USA) and São Paulo (Brazil).
This enables Seaborn to be an On-Net Carrier at ODATA, and to offer a complete set of wavelength capacity services, MEF compatible Ethernet services and IP services. These highly scaled and reliable services provide direct connectivity between Brazil and the United States, with lower latency than any other current system.
By integrating ODATA’s Data Center infrastructure into Seabras-1, Seaborn provides customers an alternative access point to its high availability network, thereby providing the benefits of direct, low latency routes from North America to South America.
“With the addition of this new POP at ODATA, we continue our expansion plan in Latin America. This is an important milestone for us, as we are working together with ODATA to provide international connectivity for its customers,” said Michel Marcelino, Seaborn’s SVP & Head of Latin America.
“Our Data Center becomes a strategic interconnection point with other Seaborn POPs installed in different locations around the world,” explained Ricardo Alário, ODATA’s CEO. “We are ready to support our customers and future demands that need international transport capacity and low latency”.
