Rural service provider deploys Wi-Fi 6 EDGE Systems with EDGE Insights, delivering a seamless subscriber experience to communities across Georgia and Tennessee
SAN JOSE, CA – June 11, 2020 – Calix, Inc. (NYSE:CALX, news, filings) today announced that Ringgold Telephone Company, Inc. (RTC) has selected the Revenue EDGE to deliver the ultimate Wi-Fi experience to subscribers as it continues its fiber rollout. The regional communications service provider (CSP) is deploying the second generation Wi-Fi 6 EDGE Systems along with EDGE Insights to ensure their fiber subscribers have the ultimate Wi-Fi experience available in the market. RTC’s offering is anchored by the GigaSpire® BLAST systems, which can be easily expanded with BLAST Intelligent Mesh in the unlikely event that the BLAST u6 doesn’t cover every inch of the home. In either scenario, the solution is fully managed via Calix Support Cloud and offers industry leading network security through ProtectIQ™ and family protection with ExperienceIQ™. The comprehensive experience is exclusively branded by RTC, who maintains ownership of its subscriber relationships without ceding personal data to a third-party vendor who could also become a competitor.
“Calix has always invested in the success of service providers, and this latest portfolio upgrade enables us to tailor solutions to our specific needs as opposed to being forced into a one-size-fits-all solution,” said Phil Erli, chief executive officer for Ringgold Telephone Company. “These new Wi-Fi 6 systems offer unparalleled coverage, with a single gateway providing optimal coverage for 90 percent of our subscribers’ homes. The out of box experience of competing products was enticing but eventually fell short, as the Calix solution delivers the insights and seamless management capabilities necessary to ensure that we elevate the subscriber experience. Just as they have for the past two decades, Calix proved to be the ideal partner once again, and we look forward to continuing this successful relationship for years to come.”
A Calix customer since 2002, RTC covers a rural area that spans numerous rapidly growing communities in northern Georgia and southern Tennessee, serving more than 7,000 residential subscribers over 122 square miles. The regional CSP is expanding its network to match the growing communities it serves and sought a partner that could deliver a range of services and applications that would differentiate its offerings for subscribers. Since RTC began offering managed Wi-Fi, Calix Support Cloud has been a game-changer, enabling it to address Wi-Fi problems proactively—effectively solving issues before they impact subscribers. In addition to introducing Wi-Fi 6, this next generation managed experience includes the CommandIQ™ mobile application and provides access to advanced security via ProtectIQ and parental controls via ExperienceIQ—the first two EDGE Suites available to subscribers. With these suites and services, RTC can meet the demands of its subscribers with custom solutions that place its brand first and elevate its business.
“Our mission is to enable CSPs of all sizes to deliver experiences that beat the giants in their markets and put their brand first,” said Michael Weening, EVP of global operations for Calix. “With this solution, they can leverage the power of a platform that allows them to launch a new system in weeks versus the traditional 12-24 months, continually expanding their managed solution offerings through the Revenue EDGE ecosystem. RTC has been a valued partner for nearly two decades, and we are delighted that they share our vision for the future of the subscriber experience. Our customer success and marketing organizations are actively engaged with Phil and his team to help them leverage industry best practices and market activation program to ensure maximum success. We look forward to growing our relationship and are proud to be their partner in delighting subscribers and running the big national service providers out of their market.”
