PTP 670 fixed wireless solution integrated in the Concealed Antenna Node – CAN provides Small Cell high capacity backhaul for service provider.
Alpha Wireless and Cambium Networks (NASDAQ: CMBM) have come together to create a wireless backhaul solution for situations in which fiber or traditional wired broadband access is either delayed or not economical to deploy. The two companies were tasked with finding a solution for a leading US mobile network operator struggling with difficult zoning requirements, project schedules, cost to deploy and other restrictions. In response the Cambium Networks PTP 670 Point-to-Point radio was integrated within an Alpha Wireless CAN. The small cell solution is poised for deployment in hundreds of locations throughout the US.
In this application, the Cambium PTP 670 wireless backhaul radios were compact enough to fit within the CAN. The CAN is an all-in-one, plug’n’play solution. It has a surge protected integrated power system with individual equipment breakers and is aesthetically pleasing; concealing the antenna, backhaul and radio equipment into a discreet, ultra-compact unit.
“The PTP 670 radio’s ability to operate in near and non-line-of-sight conditions, industry leading spectral efficiency, dynamic channel selection capabilities to navigate interference, and compact form factor makes it an ideal solution for small cell backhaul applications,” Allen Yu, PTP 670 Product Manager, said. “The PTP 670 supports the IEEE 1588v2 synchronous Ethernet standards. This solution has been used globally by a wide range of operators for small cell backhaul as well as other applications where fiber or traditional microwave are not viable options.”
“Alpha Wireless emphasizes a major focus not only on providing top quality products, but also on creating solutions that blend well into their surroundings, so finding a way to meet this client’s challenge was right up our alley,” Fergal Lawlor, Alpha Wireless CEO said.
“Working with Cambium Networks enabled us to deliver a perfect solution, tailored specifically to this customer and we’re thrilled with the result.”
“Cambium Networks’ wireless fabric portfolio of connectivity solutions provides affordable quality, end-to-end connectivity and single pane of glass management that can be tailored to meet almost any application. Alpha Wireless worked closely with the Cambium Networks engineering team to ensure ease of use, minimum space, and low power consumption. We are pleased with the success of this collaboration,” said David Island, Director North America Service Provider Sales, Cambium Networks.
