Anritsu Group Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Target Approved by Science Based Targets (SBT) Initiative

Anritsu Corporation (President Hirokazu Hamada) is pleased to announce that the Anritsu Group 2030 greenhouse gas reduction target has been approved by the SBT Initiative as the scientific basis for achieving the Paris Agreement, which aims to achieve the 2-degree goal.

This Anritsu Group greenhouse gas reduction target will achieve the following:
Anritsu commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions (Note 1) 30% by 2030 from a 2015 base year. Anritsu also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions (Note 2) from purchased goods and services and the use of sold product emissions 30% by 2030 from a 2018 base year.

(Note 1)
Scope 1: Direct greenhouse gas emissions (from Anritsu Group plants, offices, vehicles, etc.)
Scope 2: Energy-related indirect greenhouse gas emissions (from Anritsu Group purchased heat and power)
(Note 2)
Scope 3: Emissions from business supply chain (excluding Scope 1 and 2)

As part of activities to achieve these targets, the Anritsu Head Office in Atsugi City, Kanagawa, plans to install additional 50 kW of solar power generation and the Anritsu Company in California installs 1,100 kW in FY2019.

SBT Initiative is a joint initiative of the WWF (World Wildlife Fund), CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project), WRI (World Resources Institute), and the UN Global Compact. It provides companies with a clearly defined pathway to future-proof growth by specifying how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to keep warming to 2°C, well-below 2°C or 1.5°C.

Anritsu aims to achieve its SBT Initiative-approved reduction target for limiting global temperature increase and pledges the company’s efforts to creating a sustainable society.
