Minsk, Belarus, 6 November 2019 – International network service provider RETN together with RUE “Beltelecom”, the largest telecommunications provider in Belarus, announced the completion of a transit network section across the Republic of Belarus. The two companies joined forces to deploy the high-capacity DWDM route linking Moscow-Velikiye Luki-Minsk-Brest-Warsaw-Frankfurt, significantly expanding the capacity for the transit traffic in the region.
“We develop our network to improve connectivity for our international customers. The extension of transit routes running through the territory of Belarus has become one of the key strategic pillars to achieve this goal,” states Vladimir Taran, Director of Business Development at RETN. “The Republic of Belarus is beneficially located in Eastern Europe, which allows us to build the shortest transit paths for international traffic transport from Asia to Europe and in the opposite direction. Our new DWDM route is one of the key segments of the “Central Way” on the TRANSKZ network linking all major locations in Europe to Central and East Asia across a single network.”
Andrey Soborov, Acting Director at RETN in Belarus comments: “Due to the agreements achieved with our partner, RUE “Beltelecom”, the new transit route enables n x 100 Gbps high bandwidth connectivity for transport of European and Asian traffic between Russia and Eastern Europe. The network segment is built using Infinera’s DWDM equipment and allows to transfer a large amount of data with a minimal delay. LTD from Moscow to Minsk is 9.99 ms, and from Moscow to Frankfurt (via Berlin) – 32.3 ms”.
