New Point of Presence will provide customers with more robust connectivity options
NEW YORK – September 24, 2019 – Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, announced today that it has added a new point of presence (PoP) at Webair, a leading Managed Cloud-based Infrastructure Solutions provider. The new PoP is located in Webair’s NY1 facility at 501 Franklin Avenue, Suite 200 Garden City, NY 11530.
We’re excited to be partnering with Hurricane Electric to bring our customers additional connectivity options,” said Justin Moran, VP of Sales at Webair. “Having access to Hurricane Electric’s global network will provide added value to enterprises in our facility.”
Webair’s New York data center is Long Island’s most secure, fully-redundant Tier III data center, with 25,000 sq. ft. of raised floor space, with eight different carriers and multiple points of access to the facilities. This PoP is Hurricane Electric’s 85th in the United States, and will provide enterprises in the New York area with improved fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management in the delivery of next generation IP connectivity services.
“We are thrilled to be working with Webair to provide performance and flexibility for customers in the New York area,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “This new location continues to build on our commitment to provide high speed connectivity domestically and around the globe.”
Customers of Webair and those in and near New York now have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, customers at the facility are able to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with over 7,500 different networks via more than 200 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.
Webair’s New York Data Center Highlights:
- 4MW of direct utility power dedicated to the data center via two transformers and 1MW of backup power
- 200 tons of N+2 cooling provided via 10-20 ton CRAC units
- Facility physical and virtual security has been verified via up to date SSAE16 SOC 2 TYPE II audits
