Colt’s Charity Bike Ride to travel from Munich to Vienna

This year’s ride will see more than 130 Colt employees cycling 540 kilometres over four days, across Germany and Austria, to help vulnerable children.

Berlin, Germany, London, UK, 20 September 2019 – Colt Technology Services has today commenced its Annual Charity Bike Ride, which sees Colt employees riding from Germany to Austria over four days.

Now in its eighth year, this year’s ride starts in Munich, then travels through southern Germany and Austria to reach Vienna the following Monday, the 23rd of September. The event will see riders travel more than 540 kilometres all with the goal of raising money for charities that support children in need.

The Colt Charity Bike Ride is the company’s single largest Corporate Social Responsibility event, and over the past seven years, Colt has raised more than €1m for charities across 16 countries that support underprivileged children. Some of the charities receiving donations this year include; BrotZeite.V. in Germany, Richard House Children’s Hospice in the UK, Premiers de Cordee in France, Fondazione Paideia in Italy and Kinder-Lachen in Austria, a group which gives children who grew up in unsafe environments a new, loving home, so that these children get an education, their own beds and a family atmosphere.

“The Colt Charity Bike Ride is so much more than a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative,” said Carl Grivner, CEO at Colt. “The ride has become ingrained in Colt’s company culture; it is anticipated globally, consistently oversubscribed, and is a fundamental signpost for our ambition of being better connected and improving the quality of life for future generations.”

“I’m proud to be involved in this year’s ride, and I’m convinced that the 2019 event is going to make an even bigger impact than those before it.”

It isn’t just riders from Colt that partake in the ride. A committee of employees organises the event, and another team of 40 also support the ride, from setting up and running pit stops on the route to general logistics to making sure the riders complete the journey safely.

The Colt Charity Bike Ride is held every September, with 130 riders of all abilities from different countries taking part. Each rider will be raising funds for the local charity partner of the region they are from.
