Telefónica extends its Internet Access Resale service to more than 30 countries

Madrid, 9 July 2019.- Telefónica’s wholesale business unit, Telefónica International Wholesale Services (TIWS), has extended the global reach of its Internet Access for resale service to over 30 countries, delivering unrivalled direct presence in Latin America and Europe.

This service enables other carriers to radically extend their footprint and enhance their connectivity portfolio, thus delivering internet access to their customers located all over the world. Furthermore, it combines different connectivity options and value-added functionalities, as standard.

Carriers are often required to provide Internet services to locations outside their direct footprint (“offnet”) to meet the needs of multiple end-user applications including cloud apps, HD video streaming, CRM portals, internet surfing, etc. This is in addition to the market transition towards the deployment of SD WAN and Hybrid VPN which both demand internet access. As a result, greater bandwidths are demanded which must be flexible, efficient and economically attractive.

The proposition is also being further enhanced with a new service model called Broadband for Business. This is a cost-effective solution for those accesses that do not require top class SLAs or guaranteed bandwidth, and will gradually be made available in countries within Telefonica’s footprint. The addition of this alternative resale option, enables TIWS to offer its Internet Access service at two different commercial levels, depending on the functionalities required by the customer.

This enhancement complements the existing reliable and high-performance Dedicated Internet Access service already offered by TIWS, which enables customers to reach the Internet by using a combination of its own Tier 1 network capabilities and other ISP services. Simultaneously, customers also have access to a comprehensive range of bandwidth options, multiple resilience scenarios and additional features, such as full routing and IPV6 among others.
