AT&T Helps Businesses Deploy New Communication Capabilities in Near Real-time

New AT&T API Marketplace to help connect developers and businesses with communications apps

AT&T* is giving businesses additional customer service options with Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The new AT&T API Marketplace provides businesses pre-packaged software code to embed in their websites and applications, enabling simpler, faster and more efficient ways to communicate with customers in near real-time.

With AT&T API Marketplace, businesses can easily add or upgrade services to their websites, such as click-to-connect voice, video and text as well as 2-factor authentication, conferencing, virtual directories and contact center. These communication APIs give businesses the tools they need to provide potential customers and existing users the customer service capabilities they desire.

“Even the largest enterprises struggle with securing the time and resources needed to deploy capabilities that can enhance customer service and create personalized experiences,” says Roman Pacewicz, chief product officer, AT&T Business. “In today’s omnichannel communications environment, customers expect timely responses. By giving businesses a consistent experience and easy-to-use tools, we can help address common pain points efficiently and effectively.”

Built on Ribbon Communications’ Kandy platform, the AT&T API Marketplace offers turnkey applications and self-service APIs for developers to create custom applications.

Turnkey applications are plug-and-play communications services that can easily be incorporated into business applications and websites. Self-service APIs are available for customers who prefer to integrate these capabilities into their own environment. AT&T also offers support for more customized integration.

Business customers can use AT&T network integration services to design customer solutions. This includes developer-for-hire services to assist customers in building tailored software applications. These experts can help organizations get the most out of the marketplace tools by building solutions to support applications and workflows according to an organization’s specific needs.

The tools available on the marketplace are ideal for businesses of nearly any size, and common use cases can benefit nearly any industry including finance, manufacturing, healthcare and retail.

Using the marketplace’s robust self-service APIs, applications can be built quickly and easily. For example, businesses could use an app to embed a click-to-chat button on their website to give customers an easier way to connect with support representatives. A customized app can also help banks of any size improve customer data security and reduce fraud by enabling the automatic 2-factor authentication of users via text messages.

The developer-friendly model enables AT&T to regularly add new APIs to the AT&T API Marketplace, making more capabilities available to businesses.

As with nearly all AT&T Business solutions, the AT&T API Marketplace is powered by a highly-secure network and cloud infrastructure that helps businesses accelerate digital transformation through sophisticated edge-to-edge capabilities. As 5G technology becomes more widespread, the AT&T API Marketplace will help businesses create video-intensive apps via next-generation wireless technology.

“The AT&T API Marketplace underscores the company’s overall strategy helping businesses drive tangible business outcomes through the depth and breadth of communication and collaboration solutions,” said Courtney Munroe, group vice president of Worldwide Telecommunications Research, IDC. “Interest in plug-and-play APIs like these is only growing because of their potential to deliver immediate value without a huge investment of time and resources.”

The AT&T API Marketplace is available now to businesses and developers in the U.S. For more information, go to apimarket.att.com.
