DIRECTV Sports Broadcasts Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana for The First Time Ever in 2019

Complete coverage of the championship will include broadcasts from the stadiums and additional pre- and post-match programming for some games. Coverage will also be available through the various digital platforms of the sports channel: DIRECTVPlay, DIRECTVSportsApp and DIRECTVSports.com.
On Feb. 5, DIRECTV Sports kicked off the broadcast of the 18th edition of the Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2019 with the transmission of the first game of the championship when Unión La Calera and Brazil’s Chapecoense face off in Chile.
DIRECTV Sports will broadcast all 105 matches of the tournament and produce additional content to enhance the viewing experience. Programming will include specials and analysis about the tournament, pre- and post-match coverage, and discussions among DIRECTV Sports’ acclaimed team of journalists, narrators and commentators.
About the Championship
The Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2019 will be the 18th edition of the tournament. The champion will play in the CONMEBOL RECOPA Sudamericana 2020 against the champion of the Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores 2019; and in the Copa Suruga Bank 2020 against the winner of the Copa J. League 2019. In addition, the champion will earn an automatic berth in the group stage of the CONMEBOL Libertadores 2020.
The draw for the first phase of the tournament was held on December 17, 2018 in Luque, Paraguay, on the same day that matchups for the first phases of the Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores 2019 were determined. The final match of this edition will be the first game to be played in a neutral stadium, which on this occasion will be Estadio Nacional in Lima, Peru.
