AT&T Continues to Rank Among America’s Most Just Companies

For the third year in a row, AT&T Inc.* earned the top spot in the telecommunications industry in the JUST 100 rankings from JUST Capital and Forbes. The company placed No. 13 among companies across all industries.

Forbes and JUST Capital, a nonprofit research organization that tracks business behaviors Americans care about, compiled rankings that encompass 1,000 of the largest publicly traded companies in the U.S.

The list is based on one of the most comprehensive surveys ever conducted on public attitudes toward corporate behavior. Some of the business practices measured in the survey include:

Workers compensation and well-being
Treatment of customers
Impact of companies’ products
Environmental footprint
Job generation
The company received high marks for its ability to maximize use of renewable energy. AT&T’s renewable energy purchase agreements will deliver up to 820 MW of wind power and constitute one of the largest corporate renewable energy purchases in the U.S.[1] The projects are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to taking more than 530,000 cars off the road or providing electricity for more than 372,000 homes per year.[2]

AT&T was also recognized for its hiring and employee training practices. It hired more than 17,000 employees in 2017, including more than 1,200 college students who joined AT&T’s full-time and internship programs. The company also invests about $200 million annually in training for employees, providing nearly 18 million hours of training -- and over $24 million annually on tuition assistance.
