WANRack Expands into Nevada with a Project Completion in Elko County

Lenexa, KS (September 25, 2018) — WANRack announces its latest expansion into the state of Nevada with the completion of its most recent project across Elko County.

The district benefited from E-Rate and state matching funds.

“The Governor’s Office of Science, Innovation, and Technology is very pleased to support the Elko County School District with their E-Rate initiatives through the Nevada Connect Kids Initiative, to help build a network with WANRack, enabling faster speeds which will allow students to engage in better digital and distance learning opportunities”, said Jojo Myers Campos, Nevada State Broadband Development Manager.

WANRack’s executive management team has now sold and installed over 165 Wide Area Networks (WANs) nationwide. They have ramped up resources to aggressively expand in the near future. The company is striving to become the premier private fiber WAN provider for the K-12 education space. Word is spreading on how compelling their value proposition is to a school district looking at Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

“The Elko County network build was a complex project with many unique permitting challenges,” said Rob Oyler, CEO of WANRack. “The network crossed federal properties, mining operations, large swaths of private land, interstates, county roads, waterways, and protected wildlife areas. Our construction teams manage dozens of permits per project, but the scale and complexity here on just one project really gave me confidence in how deep and experienced our team “bench” is today.”

With all these challenges and longer timelines, the project finished on budget and within the E-Rate deadline.

The new network now provides Elko County Schools with speeds hundreds of times faster than their previous provider.  Additionally, the network has robust security and massive scalability at no additional cost, allowing the district new opportunities for their students and staff. With the new network, the district can add unlimited applications for IP Cameras, teacher apps, phones and lunch cards.

WANRack provides high-bandwidth, fiber-based communications networks and related services to schools throughout the United States. Service offerings include E-Rate compliant lit fiber, dark fiber, and special construction solutions. Headquartered in Lenexa, Kan., WANRack’s executive management team has been providing Fiber Optic WANs to school districts since 2005.
