The “Hurricane Florence” edition

Media contact(s)

Florence blew into the Carolinas and Virginia, then petered out – leaving a wake of rain and flooding – and human devastation in its wake. Through it all, Verizon has been there for first responders, affected communities and our customers.  We’ve delivered best-in-class network performance (with more than 99% of all network facilities up and running). At Verizon, we have a saying – from our Credo: “We run to a crisis, not away” – and that’s just what the V-Team did: we coordinated with first responders, loaning thousands of wireless devices for relief efforts; we provided customers with free calling, texting and data to allow for emergency connections and personal safety; we made a $1 million contribution to the Red Cross relief efforts, even before the storm hit land; and we provided Verizon customers nationwide with the ability to Text 2 Donate, helping individuals and communities recover.
