Calix ConneXions 2018 to Feature Insights on Network Innovation from Industry Leaders Will Hahn, Gartner and Lee Hicks, Verizon

SAN JOSE, CA – September 19, 2018 – Calix, Inc. (NYSE:CALX, news, filings) today announced that Gartner principal analyst Will Hahn and Verizon vice president of network planning Lee Hicks will deliver keynote presentations at Calix ConneXions 2018. Will Hahn specializes in Tier 1 communications service provider (CSP) strategies, studying new revenue opportunities such as the connected home, direct billing, the virtual operator, and smart utility models. Mr. Hahn will share his latest insights on the market forces shaping the industry.

Lee Hicks is responsible for developing the core network element, platform technology, and feature roadmaps that meet Verizon’s long-term infrastructure requirements. He will share the latest on Verizon’s goal to realize a radical reduction in network operating complexity and costs while enabling the deployment of new services with unprecedented speed.

“Industry experts like Will Hahn and Lee Hicks, who are on the cutting edge of the future of telecommunications, are the types of visionaries who make Calix ConneXions the innovator’s conference,” said Matt Collins, Chief Marketing Officer at Calix. “We are excited to feature these two voices on the main stage to assist our customers as they map out their path to dominating their markets all made possible through Calix’s market leading pace of innovation. Be prepared to be inspired.”

Will Hahn brings over 22 years of industry experience and a unique perspective to the stage. Over his more than two decades in telecommunications, he has developed a deep knowledge of trends and a keen aptitude for carrier strategies, which has led to a growing interest in the smart home and business market. Interestingly, prior to joining Gartner, he taught ancient medieval history for 13 years at private preparatory schools in upstate New York and spends his off hours writing epic fantasy tales.

Lee Hicks has been at Verizon for more than a decade and currently serves as the vice president of network planning. Prior to his current position, he was the vice president of global network engineering, responsible for designing and implementing wireline networks that support consumer, enterprise, as well as wholesale video, data, and voice services. He was also responsible for video operations for broadcast and on-demand content acquisition, transformation, delivery, and ad-insertion.
