Vantage Data Centers breaks ground on second Santa Clara campus

The leader in wholesale data center solutions expands its Silicon Valley footprint with a new 69MW campus

SANTA CLARA, CALIF. (June 7, 2018) – Vantage Data Centers, a leader in wholesale data center solutions, is expanding its Silicon Valley footprint with a second Santa Clara campus on Mathew Street, two miles from Vantage’s flagship campus.  Construction on the first 21MW data center on the campus began last month, with first delivery planned in 2019.

“Silicon Valley remains an essential strategic market for our customers,” said Vantage President and Chief Executive Officer Sureel Choksi. “As Vantage nears completion of its sixth and final data center on the existing 75MW Silicon Valley campus, we have initiated construction on our next 69MW campus to support the growth of enterprises, cloud and hyperscale customers in 2019 and beyond.”

Foundation work is underway at the site of the new 69MW campus, with the first 21MW, 175,000 sq. ft building to be completed in early summer 2019. The new, 9-acre campus will include three four-story data centers, adding more than 500,000 sq. ft. of wholesale data center space. Located in the heart of Santa Clara, Silicon Valley Power will serve the new campus with the most competitive power rates in the region. The campus will include best-in-class amenities, including a large footprint common area breakroom and relaxation center to ensure that customers are comfortable in the data center.

The new facility will contain several features designed to balance sustainability and low total cost of ownership (TCO). The new cooling system will use only two percent of the water needed by traditional systems, thanks to extensive use of recycled water and modular chiller and dry-cooler technology designed to minimize water usage while maintaining efficient PUEs.

“Vantage’s dedication to sustainability, value and efficiency optimized for the wholesale environment is one of the reasons we’ve had such success in Silicon Valley,” said Vantage Chief Commercial Officer Lee Kestler. “We will continue that legacy of wholesale success and experience as we continue to grow into other strategic markets.”

Vantage is currently also building a 42-acre, 108MW campus in Ashburn, VA.   The first 24MW building, which will provide 6MW of initial capacity on this completely new campus, is scheduled for delivery in early 2019.
