At this year’s TechMeeting in Frankfurt on 6 June, we were happy to introduce to our customers Patchy McPatchbot: The first automated patch robot! Patchy was for sure the highlight of our meeting. And the second highlight was: Blockchain. No, just kidding. We talked a lot about the future of interconnection and current topics, but not about Blockchain. But as Martin Levy stated in his keynote: if you add this word to your cv, job offers will come flying in. So perhaps Google will favor this news also in its search engine and more people will come and see what the real hot topic is: Patchy!
Let’s talk about Patchy
We’ve reported before about our migration to the new DE-CIX FRA 12 PoP, and it is our first PoP with an optical distribution frame instead of standard racks and patch panels for customer interconnection. With Patchy, provisioning or upgrading a port can be completed within 6 minutes. More information can be found in Daniel Melzer’s and Kay Schröder’s presentation; all TechMeeting presentations are available for download.

World Cafè: Intense discussions about services and needs
The real second highlight, even more important than Blockchain, was the World Cafè. We spent one and a half hours just to talking to each other in small groups, discussing what the future of interconnection will look like, but also how DE-CIX can improve its services, especially in regards to functionalities in the customer portal. The input we received is invaluable, and we will look closely at every recommendation and suggestion in order to improve our services.
