Oscilloquartz selected as finalist in Light Reading’s Leading Lights Awards

Industry-first modular sync solution with 10G interfaces shortlisted in Most Innovative Telecoms Product category

18 April 2018
Oscilloquartz, an ADVA (FSE: ADV) company, today announced that its OSA 5430 solution has been shortlisted for Light Reading’s Leading Lights Awards in the category of Most Innovative Telecoms Product. Launched last month, the OSA 5430 is the first redundant IEEE 1588 grandmaster clock on the market to support PTP, NTP and SyncE over multiple 10Gbit/s Ethernet interfaces. Designed to help network operators achieve the stringent phase and time synchronization needed for LTE-TDD, LTE-A and 5G RAN networks, the modular, scalable solution is the only one of its kind to provide comprehensive hardware redundancy. The winner will be announced at an awards dinner at the Big Communications Event in Austin, Texas, on May 14.

Oscilloquartz, an ADVA (FSE: ADV) company, today announced that its OSA 5430 solution has been shortlisted for Light Reading’s Leading Lights Awards in the category of Most Innovative Telecoms Product. The winner will be announced at an awards dinner at the Big Communications Event in Austin, Texas, on May 14.

“To be selected as one of the finalists for these prestigious awards is a real honor. It highlights how our OSA 5430 is a true milestone for network timing. This unique technology answers the key challenges facing today’s operators as they roll out next-generation technologies such as LTE-Advanced and the upcoming 5G. What’s more, it also addresses the urgent synchronization requirements of finance and cable companies,” said Gil Biran, general manager, Oscilloquartz. “There’s simply no other technology out there that delivers the space and energy savings of hardware redundancy alongside the scale necessary for today’s radio access networks. Robust, future-proof and cost effective: our OSA 5430 sets a new benchmark for the rest of the industry to work towards.”
What makes our OSA 5430 such a valuable tool is its ability to provide protection while scaling to 10Gbit/s.
Nir Laufer, product line director, Oscilloquartz
The OSA 5430 takes core and metro timing technology to the next level. Ideal for packet-based and legacy infrastructure, it features a unique modular design. This means it can be fully customized to improve synchronization accuracy of existing networks and seamlessly extend frequency with phase synchronization. This flexibility enables an operator to meet all networking needs and easily scale with growing demand. The OSA 5430 is equipped with dual GNSS receivers that support GPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU and GALILEO. The solution also comes with Syncjack™ assurance functionality that alerts operations teams to any issues before services are affected. Now in its 14th year, the Leading Lights Awards recognize major company achievement and technology innovation, providing the industry’s key players with a chance to highlight their accomplishments from the past year.
“Being shortlisted for this award adds credence to the unique value of our latest innovation. With our robust, cost-effective OSA 5430 solution capable of scaling to 10Gbit/s, we’re empowering operators to make the leap to next-gen mobile services while continuing to provide legacy NTP and BITS outputs. We’re also paving the way for 5G roll-out,” commented Nir Laufer, product line director, Oscilloquartz. “What makes our OSA 5430 such a valuable tool is its ability to provide protection while scaling to 10Gbit/s. It can also be customized to meet specific requirements and the ability to swap pluggable components without needing to power down gives operators far more flexibility. Furthermore, its launch last month came at a crucial time for many financial institutions as they look to address the strict requirements of MiFID II and SEC Rule 613.”
