Sacramento-IX is the first internet exchange in Sacramento and is being driven by increased network traffic performance demands in the region. Sacramento-IX’s deployment expands QTS’ Internet ecosystem and simplifies network strategies by providing diverse connectivity options allowing customers to manage network traffic in a cost-effective way.

Deployment solidifies QTS Sacramento as one of the most interconnected data centers in Northern California and as a primary west coast connectivity gateway for key fiber routes to DenverSalt Lake City and points east. QTS Sacramento features 13 on-net network Service Providers offering a growing customer base a full suite of enterprise class carrier services.

Commenting on the deployment, Brent Bensten, CTO – Product Development, QTS, said, “Once considered the backup and recovery outpost for the Bay area, Sacramento has quickly become a highly interconnected and a geostrategic network hub for northern California, and represents another example of QTS’ effort to expand carrier neutral connectivity options for customers in all of our data centers.”

Sacramento-IX was started in the fall of 2016 by Ninja-IX and joins Richmond IX as the latest connectivity hub established in a QTS data center. QTS is planning to deploy similar regional connectivity hubs across its national portfolio.

“Developing a new Internet exchange in Sacramento is a great opportunity for the peering community to grow,” said Paul Emmons, Executive Director of Sacramento-IX. “As the initial facility, QTS will provide access to some of the largest networks available, allowing us to offer enhanced peering services to the market.”
