COMBA TELECOM DEBUTS INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR 5G SMART CITIES

Enabling 5G Connectivity with Its Breakthrough Massive MIMO / Beamforming Technology and 5G Digital DAS

(26 February 2018, Hong Kong & Barcelona, Spain) – Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba Telecom” or “the Group,” Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a global leading wireless solutions provider, has today -announced its 5G solutions at the Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC 2018) which commences today. Comba Telecom’s 5G solutions enable state-of-the-art 5G Connectivity with their breakthrough Massive MIMO / Beamforming Technology and 5G Digital DAS.

Massive MIMO / Beamforming Technology for 5G Antennas

Massive MIMO Beamforming is the state-of-the-art technology creating 5G signals which enables a greatly expanded network capacity. This technology will substantially increase the peak data rate and throughput per user, reaching a connection speed of up to 10Gbps. With a large antenna array at a base station, this technology can simultaneously support a huge number of users. Moreover, the technology can provide a better signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and spectral efficiency, as well as mitigate inter-cell interference by sending a focused signal stream to a specific user instead of a transmission of a broadcast signal. Massive MIMO Beamforming supports both 4G and 5G networks, which provides flexibility for operators to upgrade their networks and services to 5G in the future.

5G Digital DAS

Comba Telecom’s 5G Digital DAS is moving forward to complement the long-term development of 5G connectivity in the wireless communications ecosystem. The 5G Digital DAS supports advanced LTE as well as Massive MIMO Beamforming technology thereby enabling convenient and smooth network upgrades in the future. Featuring all-optical-fiber design, it provides coverage to both distribution points and hot spots and hence supports the Internet of Things (IoT) and locating features. In addition, Full-bandwidth technology and CPRI adaptive dynamic compression technology simultaneously support multiple operators. The Digital RF integrated chip technology greatly reduces the power consumption and product size, which enables better performance and are much more cost-effective while compared with traditional DAS.

Mr. Simon Yeung, Executive Director and Senior Vice President of Comba Telecom and the President of Comba Telecom International, said, “We are thrilled to debut and demonstrate our 5G solutions at this year’s MWC. Nowadays, as the demand of high data traffic and quality speed within a wireless network is rapidly increasing, telecom operators are trying to expand and improve their networks to usher in a 5G era in reality. As such, Comba Telecom has also boosted our investment and R&D in 5G technologies and IoT capabilities to offer a quality user experience and help operators create value.“

Mr. Yeung added, “This is an important milestone of Comba Telecom in bringing 5G functions in networks to reality and hence enabling the development of smart cities. The 5G solutions introduced at this event are one of the latest key R&D projects of the Group. The 5G antennas incorporating our Massive MIMO Beamforming technology have been adopted by a world-leading mobile operator, supporting its efforts to tap global 5G-related market opportunities. Comba Telecom will continue to deliver more new technologies to help operators better address the expanding connectivity needs of enterprises and enhancing user experiences, paving the way for the world to establish 5G smart cities.”

In addition to the launch of the 5G solutions, Comba Telecom will also showcase its public safety, multi-operator and smart city solutions at MWC 2018.
