World’s Largest IPv6-Native Internet Backbone Enhances Performance of Its High-Speed, High-Quality IP Transit Solutions with Industry-Leading Modularity, Scalability, and Flexibility
NAPERVILLE, Illinois and FREMONT, California, 16 January 2018 – Coriant, a leading supplier of packet optical, IP, and SDN solutions to Tier 1 global service providers and web-scale Internet operators, today announced that Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, has deployed the Coriant Groove™ G30 Network Disaggregation Platform in a Data Center Interconnect (DCI) application to enhance the performance of its high-speed, high-quality IP transit solutions. The Coriant Groove™ G30 solution will enable Hurricane Electric to meet increasing customer demand for higher capacity service connectivity with flexible, efficient, and low latency multi-terabit optical transport.
Hurricane Electric operates an International Internet backbone that is ranked among the top in the world, with connections ranging from multiple 10 GigE to multiple 100 GigE. Leveraging a highly modular, scalable, and power-efficient system design, Hurricane Electric selected the Coriant Groove™ G30 solution to scale capacity between key data center locations in the heart of Silicon Valley, including San Francisco, Palo Alto, San Jose, and Fremont. The Coriant DCI solution is designed to support efficient multi-terabit optical transmission over dark fiber metro and regional applications, and will also enable Hurricane Electric to extend multi-terabit connectivity between regions using alien wavelength service applications. The single, compact platform provides an efficient solution for all of Hurricane Electric’s backbone transport needs.
“We continue to enhance our network infrastructure to meet the throughput and low latency requirements our global customers require to deliver a best-in-class Internet experience,” said Mike Leber, President, Hurricane Electric. “Interconnection needs in Silicon Valley are some of the most demanding in the world, and as we scaled our fiber optic transport backbone in the Bay Area we needed a proven solution with superior technical capabilities. The Coriant Groove G30 was a perfect fit for our need, and proved to be extremely easy to use and quick to deploy.”
The award-winning Coriant Groove™ G30 Network Disaggregation Platform is an innovative 1RU modular open transport solution designed to deliver programmable, high speed, and secure bandwidth optimized for the growing capacity demands of mobile, video, IoT, and cloud applications. Widely deployed in the world’s leading web-scale Internet operator, service provider, IXP, and cable MSO networks, the Groove G30 can be equipped as a muxponder terminal solution and as an Open Line System (OLS) optical layer solution. Open APIs ensure rapid introduction and easy integration within any network operating environment.
“We are delighted that Hurricane Electric selected Coriant as their networking partner of choice for this important transport upgrade project,” said Jon Fishlow, Managing Director, Enterprise Sell-Through Business, Coriant. “This new deployment represents further validation of our Groove G30 solution, which is currently providing resilient and efficient transport for many of the world’s leading service providers and web-scale Internet operators.”
