On 6 December, DE-CIX Frankfurt reached a new magical all-time peak: 6.027 Terabits per second!
December is a good month for new traffic peaks: the 5 Terabit traffic record reached in 2015 also took place in early December (8 December). Traffic moves in waves, people surf more on the Internet in winter than in summer, and mostly in the evening between 6pm and 10 pm. The new peak was reached at 9pm.
At the DE-CIX office, the DE-CIX team celebrated the new peak with a cake on the next day – and created a picture with a giant six.
