ATLANTA, September 12, 2017 – Southern Telecom, Inc. (STI), a subsidiary of Southern Company, announces the expansion of the company’s sales team with the hiring of Michael Lamar and Michael “Mickey” O’Kelley, both in the role of carrier account executive. The telecom industry veterans were added to the team in response to the growing interest in STI’s portfolio of dark fiber, conduit, and colocation in the Southeast U.S. In their roles, Lamar and O’Kelley are responsible for new client acquisition and management of telecom carrier, content provider and large enterprise customers.
Lamar’s background includes developing fiber service routes and fiber network expansion projects. He is also skilled in PON, VoIP and MPLS network solutions with expertise in serving the government, healthcare and automotive sectors. Lamar has a Bachelor of Science in organization management from Voorhees College, and is a graduate of the Leadership Augusta and Leadership Columbia County programs.
O’Kelley’s experience includes sales, management, logistics, operations and training roles supporting clients and companies in energy, utilities, healthcare, automotive, manufacturing, distribution, transportation, technology, professional services and government categories. He has a Bachelor of Science in management from Jacksonville State University.
