SEATTLE– CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE:CTL, news, filings) announced today that it has expanded its high-speed internet services in Neah Bay, Wash. The company now offers connection speeds up to 40 Mbps as part of CenturyLink’s commitment to bring broadband to rural areas of Washington state.
High-speed internet access brings many benefits to rural communities, including economic development and better access to education and healthcare services, such as distance learning and telemedicine.

Thanks to the work between CenturyLink and the Makah Tribe, Neah Bay has access to broadband that will support local families and the economy.”
The Makah Tribe is celebrating CenturyLink’s internet deployment with a broadband celebration luncheon on Friday, August 18 at 2:30 pm at the Makah Tribe Community Center. The event is open to the public and will feature a traditional Makah salmon bake, ceremonial ribbon cutting and CenturyLink service demonstration. Honored guests include U.S Sen Maria Cantwell, Washington State Senator John McCoy, Regional BIA Director Stan Speaks, and U.S. Coast District 13’s Admiral David Throop.

Neah Bay, Wash., is part of CenturyLink’s Connect America Fund (CAF) enablement plan for 2017. In August 2015, CenturyLink accepted the CAF phase II statewide offer in Washington state and committed to bring broadband with speeds of at least 10 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload to locations in FCC-designated, high-cost census blocks in Washington state over six years.
