SUNNYVALE, CA–(Marketwired – June 06, 2017) – Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings), an industry leader in automated, scalable and secure networks, today announced enhancements to its Software-Defined Secure Networks (SDSN) platform to deliver pervasive security across multi-vendor environments, public clouds and private clouds. Powered by automated enforcement, real-time intelligence and machine learning, SDSN knows when and how to defend an organization’s people, data and infrastructure, while using an open framework to help simplify their operation.
As cybersecurity has grown increasingly complex, organizations have been forced to cobble together disparate security products in the hopes of improving their cybersecurity posture. However, these unintegrated solutions leave gaps in protection and result in complicated and inefficient infrastructure. Juniper’s SDSN platform and its ecosystem help organizations unify security for these heterogeneous networks, giving customers a streamlined way to integrate products and manage their security operations, regardless of the vendors they choose.
Juniper is broadening this ecosystem through enhancements to its Junos Space® Security Director Policy Enforcer, which automates security policy enforcement across the network, preventing threats across firewalls, Juniper switches and now third-party switches — an industry first. This will allow the network to provide protection from both incoming and laterally moving threats. Additionally, Security Director and vSRX will also be compatible with VMware NSX to provide elevated management, policy enforcement, Layer 4-7 next-generation firewall and threat containment for applications in the private cloud.
- Policy Enforcer Automates Threat Containment to Third-Party Switches: Smart policy deployment engine, which automates security policy enforcement across the network and quarantines infected endpoints, now provides enforcement deep into the network, including third-party switches, such as Cisco.
- Juniper’s open APIs allow for seamless integration with security ecosystem partners; our integration with ForeScout® CounterACT® helps secure connectivity and visibility to multi-vendor network elements.
- Public and Private Cloud Integration: Juniper’s SDSN components will integrate with third-party cloud systems to provide security for both public and private clouds, including:
- The ability to leverage VMware NSX with Policy Enforcer and vSRX for private cloud security and containment.
- Microsoft Azure integration with Juniper’s virtualized firewall, vSRX, for public cloud, which further expands our current set of virtual marketplace offerings.
- Juniper Sky™ Advanced Threat Prevention with Email Analysis: Juniper’s cloud-based malware prevention service adds detection of threats in email, enabling advanced detection designed to rapidly find and catch the most destructive exploits, including ransomware threats like WannaCry. Its machine learning enhances threat research and intelligence, while email traffic analysis catches more malware and stops it before it spreads.
“Juniper’s end-to-end SDSN solution addresses the entire cybercrime lifecycle, providing a true security ecosystem from Juniper and our partners. The enhancements we are announcing today will further enable our customers to achieve broad protection from malware and other attacks in an automated and real-time way, while streamlining management of heterogeneous networks.”
– Mihir Maniar, vice president of security product management, Juniper Networks
“Juniper’s Software-Defined Secure Networks unified cybersecurity platform leverages the entire network and an open ecosystem, which is the right defense posture for customers to take in order to best keep today’s networks safe. No longer can a single vendor or end-point product stop cyber criminals as customers continue to rapidly migrate to diverse cloud environments. Juniper is bringing their solution, which features automation, machine learning and real-time intelligence, together with third-party devices, technology partner integration and a suite of open APIs, to deliver true unified security.”
– Rob Ayoub, research director, IDC Security Products Program
“As a Juniper Elite partner for over a decade, we have been continually impressed with Juniper’s ongoing commitment to security. SDSN has already provided great value to our customers by offering a way to flexibly and securely protect their businesses. These new enhancements to the platform will further optimize protection. The way that SDSN integrates and manages cybersecurity operations provides our customers with simpler, yet highly effective cybersecurity for their organizations.”

“As a managed IT services provider, we recognize that traditional, reactive security technologies aren’t enough to protect a business or its customers. In a world where cybersecurity threats are not only increasing in quantity, but increasing in intelligence, it is critical we put into place a solution that will allow us to protect our infrastructure. We believe Juniper Networks’ SDSN platform is the right approach to cybersecurity. It provides an open, automated and real-time solution that simplifies operations to help protect against threats that occur anywhere in the network.”
– Matt Jolly, senior IP solutions architect, Vology
“At Secure-24, we help enterprises turn IT challenges into business opportunity. Our mission governs the way we do business and is at the center of every technology investment — from employing top technologists to providing world-class infrastructure. A security solution that truly addresses today’s cybercrime landscape — one that is unified, effective and efficient, protecting businesses from both external and internal threats — is critical to an organization’s success. Juniper’s SDSN platform creates an environment that helps to protect against the increased risks that come with migration to cloud, mobile workers and elastic environments. We believe it is the right approach to securing heterogeneous networks.”
– Sean Donaldson, chief technology officer, Secure-24
“Today’s network boundaries are continuing to blur as organizations are evolving from traditional campus and data center environments to a multi-vendor and hybrid-cloud model. With Juniper’s open APIs, integration between ForeScout CounterACT and the SDSN cybersecurity platform is seamless. Together, we help customers in their efforts to achieve comprehensive visibility and security across the network, including third-party switches. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Juniper Networks and offering an end-to-end security solution for today’s threat landscape.”
– Pedro Abreu, senior vice president & chief strategy officer, ForeScout Technologies
“VMware NSX is a core component of our software-defined data center strategy, which enables our customers to deliver applications and services across a distributed environment with security and policy built-in.
