New product line boasts state-of-the-art silicon processing power, SDN/NFV capability, and choice of best-in-class switching and routing software
BEACHWOOD, Ohio – May 2, 2017 -- Champion ONE, The Champion of Open Networking™ and a leading supplier of optical network solutions, is announcing a new line of open network Ethernet switches. These switches offer high-performance hardware and a robust feature set, including SDN and NFV functionality, at significant cost savings over many legacy brands.
Champion ONE’s line of switches brings all the benefits and principles of open architecture to its customers’ networks. Instead of being locked into the limitations of a single vendor’s feature set and proprietary hardware, the switch hardware is fully disaggregated from the software. This allows customers the freedom to choose from an extensive menu of software options, ultimately selecting the combination of switch hardware and software that is best suited for their particular applications. Champion ONE has partnered with industry-leading software vendors (including IP Infusion®, Pica8®, Cumulus Networks®, and more) to provide customers with a diverse range of operating systems to meet individual requirements for service provider or data center environments and various network topologies. The switches are based on open standards, which allow them to interoperate with legacy equipment and seamlessly integrate into existing infrastructure.
The switches themselves are high-density solutions with up to 54 ports, offering full L2/L3 line-rate switching at data rates of 1G, 10G and 40G (a release of 100G switches is planned for mid-2017). Powerful Broadcom® chipsets support large routing tables, fast forwarding rates, and superior switching capacities. Both copper and optical switches are available.
“The switching and routing environment has changed dramatically over the last few years and our customers continue to seek new ways to maximize the efficiency and capability of their infrastructure and reduce their capital expenditures and position themselves for next generation architectures,” said Champion ONE CEO John Jutila. "Our new line of switches supports both goals. Pairing open network hardware with interoperable software choices reduce capital costs, and their capability to interact with a SDN/NFV environment anticipates future needs.
“We at Champion ONE are excited to extend our proven expertise with open standards based networking technology to next-generation switching and routing solutions, and to continue delivering the exceptional service, support and value that our customers have come to expect across all of our products.”
