Syndeo Network Selects MRV’s OptiDriver® Metro Optical Transport Solution to Upgrade its Regional WDM Backbone Network
MRV’s Offering Provides Syndeo with Greater Bandwidth Capabilities and Optical Service Provisioning Tools to Further Streamline Its Network
CHATSWORTH, California, April 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — MRV CommunicationsTM, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVC) (“MRV®”), a global provider of innovative packet and optical solutions for service providers, data center operators and enterprises, announced that Syndeo Network, a fiber-optic based broadband communications service provider offering telecommunications services, selected MRV to improve and streamline its WDM network. The network upgrade enables Syndeo to continue its support for customers’ growing traffic demands, both presently and into the future.
In addition to providing telecommunications services to 21 counties in northern Illinois, Syndeo owns a fiber installation subsidiary, DeKalb Fiber Optics, that serves education, enterprise, and government institutions. Requiring a WDM solution that could address its current challenges, as well as provide an evolution to support much greater bandwidth with lower power requirements and a compact footprint, Syndeo selected MRVs OptiDriver® metro optical transport solution. MRV’s OptiDriver solution provides Syndeo with increased capacity for its WDM backbone with future-proof growth in order to support 100G capabilities. Furthermore, the upgraded network includes MRV’s Pro-Vision®, Life Cycle Service Orchestration (LSO) service management and orchestration software platform that simplifies Syndeo Network’s end-to-end optical service provisioning and management. The complete set of automated tools eases network operations from planning and provisioning, to visualizing and optimizing packet and optical networks and services.
“Syndeo Network’s legacy hardware suffered from significant space and power requirements, and high operational expenses. Consequently, it reached capacity limit, making it impossible to support future 100G network expansion,” said Amit Patel, CEO of Syndeo Network. “We needed a cost-effective solution that provided us with the bandwidth needed to satisfy our immediate needs and enhance our options for future expansion. MRV’s OptiDriver Metro Optical Transport solution allows us to increase capacity of our WDM backbone with prompt time-to-market and reduced operational costs.”
“MRV strives to provide regional service providers with the comprehensive solutions they need to expand as the needs of their customers do the same,” stated Scott St. John, Senior Vice President of Global Sales & Service for MRV. “I am pleased we were able to meet Syndeo Network’s 100G solution needs, while also supporting its existing 10G services.”
Providing business and IT services and solutions to small, mid, and large enterprise companies, Syndeo Network offers direct Internet access and managed Ethernet, hosted voice, managed IT services, dark fiber and backup and disaster recovery for business continuity. MRV’s WDM solution offers Syndeo with cost-competitive tools to meet the ever-growing demands of its customers.
