MRV Enables Standards-based SDN Integration for its Pro-Vision® Lifecycle Service Orchestration Platform
Recent Pro-Vision software release includes next generation RESTCONF Northbound interface enabling support for Service Lifecycle Automation
CHATSWORTH, California, March 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — MRV CommunicationsTM, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVC) (“MRV®”), a global provider of innovative packet and optical solutions for service providers, data center operators and enterprises, announced an upgrade to its Pro-Vision® service management and orchestration software platform. The newly upgraded Pro-Vision software platform now includes a next generation RESTCONF Northbound application program interface (API). This new interface leverages standards-based Yang models, such as those defined by the Open Networking Foundation’s (ONF’s) T-API open standard, for seamless integration with high-order orchestration platforms, thereby enabling full Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) for transport services.
Pro-Vision integrates with MRV’s family of optical transport and switching platforms, enabling service providers to design, manage, diagnose, visualize and optimize their multilayer networks, while substantially reducing operational expenses. With the addition of its next generation RESTCONF Northbound API, Pro-Vision further simplifies ease of use, service orchestration in SDN-enabled networks, troubleshooting capabilities, and also supports new optical and packet products and features.
“We are excited to introduce our latest update of Pro-Vision which includes a next generation RESTCONF Northbound management interface that allows for seamless integration of Pro-Vision with emerging open and programmable SDN-enabled networks,” commented Adam Scheer, Chief Operating Officer of MRV. “Our latest update further aligns Pro-Vision with our commitment to deliver solutions designed to offer our customers flexibility and choice as they build their next generation networks. Pro-Vision is engineered to provide full LSO for MRV-powered networks and, with this software release, also supports seamless standards-based integration for service orchestration platforms currently being rolled out more broadly in the market. Finally, Pro-Vision now enables integration with other types of platforms – such as OSS/BSS – as standards-based interfaces are ratified.”
“With the update to its Pro-Vision platform, MRV introduces a heightened level of control and intuitiveness that is often hard to come by in the world of LSO solutions,” added Michael Howard, Senior Research Director for IHS Markit. “The depth and ease-of-use, once again, marks MRV as an industry innovator and further highlights the company’s commitment to providing service providers with scalable, integrated offerings.”
Pro-Vision can scale to meet the broad range of customer needs, from regional operators to the largest global service providers. Its rich and intuitive GUI automates provisioning and management for thousands of network elements and brings a new level of control, awareness, and troubleshooting capabilities to network operators tasked with service provisioning, assurance, monitoring, reporting, maintenance, and inventory management.
