Orlando, FL – March 28, 2017 – GENBAND™, a leading provider of real time communications software solutions, and Polycom today announced that the two companies have continued to build upon their Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certification from last year with newly approved solutions that offer the US Department of Defense (DoD) enhanced communications capabilities. In 2016, the GENBAND Application Server (EXPERiUS) and Polycom’s® VVX® voice and video portfolio were tested and certified for DoD interoperability by JITC and subsequently added to the agency’s Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN) Approved Products List (APL). In 2017, the GENBAND Application Server was additionally tested, certified and granted inclusion on the DODIN APL as an Enterprise Session Controller (ESC). GENBAND’s ESC certification extends its ability to support enterprise-wide DoD deployments in a cloud environment. Polycom has also added multiple solutions to the DODIN Approved Products List including the Polycom RealPresence Collaboration Server (RMX) portfolio and the Polycom RealPresence Trio.
The GENBAND Application Server shares its heritage with the Nortel AS 5300, which provides it with the unique capability to offer a highly scalable, cloud-based upgrade option for legacy Nortel communications systems deployed by the US Department of Defense. The advanced GENBAND solution is deployed with standards-based SIP and ASSIP endpoints, so there is no proprietary endpoint lock-in. It easily scales to millions of endpoints per node, making it ideally suited for geographically redundant, organization-wide, private cloud environments.
The Polycom RealPresence Collaboration Server delivers multi-party video, voice, and content collaboration with the industry’s broadest support for standards, protocols and natively integrated applications. Its 100 percent auto-failover, extreme scalability and security make it a compelling choice for mission-critical deployments. It can be deployed with Polycom’s Open SIP VVX endpoints and the Polycom RealPresence Trio. The Trio combines Polycom’s legendary voice quality with personal content sharing and business-class videoconferencing.
“Achieving JITC certification for interoperability as an Enterprise Session Controller now allows us to support any size Department of Defense deployment, on-premises or in a private cloud environment, with the latest in standards-based communications technology,” said Patrick Joggerst, Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at GENBAND. “We have enjoyed a great deal of success that includes several joint customer wins with Polycom over the past year since our initial JITC certification. This allows us to extend our relationship by offering organization-wide, cloud-based voice and video services for additional JITC-related opportunities.”
“Polycom and GENBAND have once again proved that we can deliver secure, reliable, high performance solutions that won’t sacrifice our commitment to open standards” said Rob Hornish, President, Americas Sales, Polycom. “We are enabling the Department of Defense and other governmental bodies to migrate their communications systems to a new generation of voice and video technology that better supports their mission requirements, while assuring they will not be locked-in to a single vendor.”
