CLARA, CA – March 2, 2017 Vantage Data Centers, a leading provider of data center solutions in support of mission critical applications, announced a major milestone in the construction of its planned V5 data center. The City of Santa Clara has fully entitled the design for the V5 data center facility, permits are approved and construction will begin next week. The planned four-story, state-of-the-art V5 data center will add an additional 15MW of capacity to what is already the largest wholesale data center campus in Santa Clara. With construction beginning next week, the new V5 facility is expected to be ready for customers beginning in mid-2018.
Vantage is also quickly moving forward with expanding its on-site substation by adding a third 50MW transformer to support the construction of the new V5 facility. The new transformer will increase the substation’s total capacity to 150MW.
The approval and beginning of construction on the V5 facility comes as construction continues on Vantage’s V6 data center. The two-story V6 facility will bring an additional 9MW of capacity to the Santa Clara market in Summer 2017. Together, V5 and V6 will expand the capacity of Vantage’s existing Santa Clara campus from 51MW to 75MW of critical IT load.
“The addition of the new V5 and V6 facilities to our campus reinforces our commitment to providing the capacity our customers need to grow and expand in Santa Clara,” said Vantage president and CEO, Sureel Choksi. “We are very grateful for the continuing support of the City of Santa Clara and Silicon Valley Power (SVP) in helping us fuel continued expansion and innovation in the region.”
