Must-Attend Events for CIOs and Tech Leaders in 2017

It’s that time again: conference planning season. Tech events are taking place all over the world—and while most technology-based conferences are designed to provide you with in-depth exposure to the latest in tech solutions, it can be difficult to decide which events to attend.

Some conferences provide high-level information but limited networking opportunities. Others provide networking plus key insights that drive professional development and business success in technology. Before you finalize your conference schedule for this year, consider the value of these top tech events for CIOs and tech leaders and prioritize based on your goals. You may even have some fun along the way. 

RSA Conference: San Francisco, February 13–17

 With more than 45,000 participants each year, this is a premier event for security professionals. Held at the Moscone Center, attendees can interact with demonstrations, network with like-minded professionals, and hear from pioneers and security veterans in the industry. The conference covers prevalent security issues happening today and the emerging threats of tomorrow.

Gigaom AI: San Francisco, February 14–16 

This conference at the Golden Gate Club is all about implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in business. Attendees will hear case studies, attend hands-on workshops, and interact with professionals who use AI daily. The conference focuses on the practical applications of AI technology, such as building better customer experiences, implementing DIY techniques versus outsourcing, applying the right tools for your goals, and strategizing for lead development.

HIMSS: Orlando, February 19–23

 The annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society conference (HIMSS) will take place at the Orange County Convention Center. SXSW Health & Tech Tracks: Austin, March 10–16

One of the largest and most publicized conferences of the year, the health and technology tracks conference promises rewarding insights into next-gen solutions, IT skills for the future, and an increasingly connected workforce. Gain global perspectives from innovative companies near and far, and stay a bit longer to enjoy the bustling music scene at the “Live Music Capital of The World.”

Telehealth 2.0: Orlando, April 23–25 

The American Telemedicine Association-sponsored conference and exhibition will be at the Orange County Convention Center. The three-day event will focus on digital transformation, telemedicine services, the intersection of consumers and medical technology, operations, and financial insights.

Interop ITX: Las Vegas, May 15–19

Held at the MGM Grand, this five-day conference and exhibition provides attendees with access to hands-on resources, summits, and workshops in six major tech areas—infrastructure, cloud, security, DevOps, leadership and professional development, and data and analytics. If you’re feeling adventurous, join their Fun Run down the Las Vegas strip with other fitness-minded conference goers.

Gartner Catalyst Conference: San Diego, August 21–24

Business intelligence, security, operations, and applications technology leaders and professionals will benefit from this conference at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. With eight separate tracks on topics including mobility, security, identity protection, and cloud computing, the conference will include interactive opportunities, networking events, and practical sessions for technical professionals.

VMworld 2017 US: Las Vegas, August 27–31

Come to the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Convention Center for a conference focused on the latest information in both cloud computing and virtualization. Interact with thought leaders, and IT professionals focused on advancing the technology, network with other attendees at this VMware-sponsored event and return to the office with essential case study information. Stay tuned for announcements about the customer appreciation party, offering live music from renowned artists while you catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

Hosting and Cloud Transformation Summit: Las Vegas, September 18–20

Organized by the Channel Company, this vendor-and platform-agnostic event is designed for the channel, by the channel. The peer-to-peer environment fosters honest conversations about security, big data, IoT, mobility and business analytics.
