Mitel® (NASDAQ:MITL) (TSX:MNW), a global leader in enterprise communications, announced today that it is providing a unified communications solution for the Beijing Rail Transit Control Center in partnership with Beijing Waneasy Technology Co. Ltd. As part of a complete communications renovation, the TCC selected Mitel for its reliability, scalability and flexible convergence capabilities.
With plans to grow to 650 miles of track by 2020, the Beijingsubway is rapidly expanding. Six new, fully-automated lines are currently under construction using domestically-developed communications-based train control systems. The lines total 186 miles in length potentially making Beijing’s subway the longest fully-automated subway network in the world. To support operations, the TCC deployed a Mitel communications system that helps employees communicate and collaborate more efficiently and better serve 12 million daily passengers.
