Major carrier selects Conterra Dark Fiber Solution in El Paso, TX

Long-term agreement represents over $10 million of value

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Conterra Ultra Broadband, LLC has been selected by a major wireless carrier to support their dark fiber CRAN network that will enable the customer to significantly expand services in the greater El Paso area. The network leverages Conterra’s previously announced fiber expansion serving many of the area’s schools and enterprise customers.  The carrier will leverage a significant amount of Conterra’s existing metro route miles to connect more than 50 initial sites.  This project will also add an additional 60 strategic route miles further densifying Conterra’s El Paso metro footprint. By leveraging the network that is largely in place, Conterra expects to generate strong return on investments and cash flow from this agreement.

“Conterra’s extensive metro fiber network is built to support the continuous demand for more bandwidth in the greater El Paso area.  This project will enable our customer to continue to expand their footprint, bandwidth needs, and deliver a high quality experience to their customers,” said Greg Spraetz, Conterra’s EVP, Sales and Marketing. “Dark fiber is an ideal solution for carriers that want to expand their network presence and support future bandwidth requirements. El Paso is a growing market with a diverse customer base of enterprise, healthcare, higher education, and governmental services and home to Fort Bliss, one of the largest military bases in the US.  In addition, El Paso is experiencing continued growth in cross border international enterprise and carrier business as well.”
