Sprint supporting those that serve through a day of giving across Central Texas

By John Stevens, Region President, Central Texas

The reason Sprint has received numerous accolades for supporting military veterans and their families, including being named a “Top 50 Military-Friendly Employer” by G.I. Jobs magazine and recognized as a Most Valuable Employer for Military by CivilianJobs.com is because of our long history of supporting military veterans and their families.

Through military discounts, recruitment outreach efforts on military bases, job websites and universities, and support of our employees who are reservists and National Guard and are called to active-duty, we’ve proved time and again that we support the military. That tradition of commitment runs especially deep in Texas where an estimated 1.5 million veterans live today and the state is home to one of the largest U.S. Military Bases – Fort Hood.

This year, in honor of the estimated 18.8 million U.S. veterans (U.S. Census Bureau), approximately 200 employees from the Central Texas Region are volunteering today, Nov. 7 in our region’s first Sprint Gives Back Day. Our employees will be offering their services at USO locations across Texas, a Veterans Day Parade and  at three national cemeteries in Texas, DFW National (Dallas), Houston National Cemetery and Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (San Antonio).

In addition to our Sprint Gives Back Day, we are extending our support of veterans throughout the month of November by supporting the USO. Texas employees can show their support to the USO through donations, in addition we will have collection boxes for the USO in all of our company-owned retail stores throughout the state. From our Sprint headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas to cities all across the country, our employees will be looking for opportunities to make a difference this upcoming holiday.

Using the hashtag, #SprintGivesBack, we’ll be tweeting photos and video of our employees all day from @SprintCentralTX and @SprintSouth. So follow along and see how Sprint shows its Texas Pride by saluting all of those who have served in protection of our freedom.
