Defense Information Systems Agency selects Windstream to expand its Department of Defense Information Network


LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Windstream (NYSE:WIN, news, filings), a leading provider of advanced network communications, today announced that it has completed the construction and delivery of customized network solutions, including fiber builds, into six military and government installations on behalf of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

Windstream delivered the customized network solutions to Sheppard Air Force Base, Naval Air Station Albany, McGhee Tyson Airfield, Naval Station Great Lakes, Kellogg Air National Guard Air Field, and Defense Logistics Agency – Battle Creek. The solutions will play a pivotal role in supporting DISA’s combat support mission.

Since early 2016, Windstream has been expanding its local metro fiber networks, fixed wireless markets and long-haul network across the country. The company recently announced metro fiber network expansion in Minneapolis, Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Richmond, and a fixed wireless expansion into 40 markets across the country.
