Bank opts for FairPoint’s advanced data center infrastructure backed by local skilled personnel and region’s largest fiber network
Manchester, N.H. (September 8, 2016) — FairPoint Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: FRP), a leading provider of advanced communications technology in northern New England, today announced Northway Bank has chosen to use FairPoint’s state-of-the-art data center services.
Northway Bank is the largest independent commercial bank in the region and has 17 locations in New Hampshire. The bank will use FairPoint’s data center colocation services, which provide data center capacity and fiber network connectivity in a physically secure, convenient location. FairPoint’s data centers are strictly controlled environments that provide the essential power, cooling and connectivity needed to run Northway’s business computing systems.
“Whether at the branch, at home, or through a mobile device, our customers have unprecedented access to their accounts, transactions and banking products.” said Tyler White, SVP Senior Technology Officer, Northway Bank. “In this world of increasing expectations of 24/7 availability, our technology infrastructure must keep pace. FairPoint meets our high standards for data center reliability and physical security, which will enable us to continue to focus on our core business.”
FairPoint’s Data Centers have multiple layers of physical security to protect each customer’s IT systems and applications. Security features include gated entrances, staffed-security stations, key card access and surveillance monitoring by on-site security personnel. The data center is staffed 24/7 by an on-site Advanced Data Services team and has reinforced walls and barriers designed to withstand adverse weather conditions. These safeguards help ensure ongoing accessibility.
FairPoint data center services are delivered in a pay-as-you-grow model, allowing customers to license only the capacity they require. This means customers have no need to overbuild an on-premises data center or take on the high capital expenditure associated with new construction or expansion. In addition, Northway Bank has access to FairPoint’s northern New England fiber network, which is the largest in the region.
“We welcome Northway Bank,” said Fred Davies, FairPoint’s VP of Data Center Services. “Our data center services are designed to accommodate banks in offloading their data center and network connections to one trusted service provider. Leveraging our advanced services will enable Northway Bank to concentrate on providing the personal service and financial solutions that they are recognized for delivering to customers.”
