ADTRAN Highlights Best Practices for Corporate Sustainability at QuEST Forum

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sep. 12, 2016– ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading provider of next-generation open networking solutions, announced today that Mike Foliano, senior vice president of operations, will present a case study on how ADTRAN has addressed the environmental impact of its products’ lifecycles from design, through build, to deployment. Delivered during a keynote address as part of the QuEST Forum Service Provider Summit, Foliano will articulate how ADTRAN’s environmental stewardship program creates positive and long-term improvement within the company, its suppliers, manufacturing partners, distribution network and end customers. Summit attendees will learn from Foliano’s insight how they can better utilize Earth’s natural resources to create a more environmentally sustainable and conscious industry while improving profitability across the information and communication technology (ICT) industry.

What: Keynote Presentation: “ADTRAN’s Sustainability Journey,” by Mike Foliano, Senior Vice President of Operations, ADTRAN
Where: QuEST Service Provider Summit, Nashville, Tennessee
When: 9:30 am CST, September 13, 2016
Abstract: Creating sustainability practices starts on the product creation drawing board, as products can be designed to use a lower amount of energy to operate, which can lead to a cost savings over time and lower the environmental impact of the device over its life span. Continuously improving upon the extraction and utilization of natural resources through fair labor practices also plays a critical role in sustainability. While it may seem costly, these practices can improve profitability for companies that seek to become more environmentally viable.

“Over the past 10 years, ADTRAN has created corporate transparency to be more green and support key environmental saving initiatives by creating products that have a lower environmental footprint; reducing energy and water consumption in our business; pursuing an aggressive policy of recycling materials; and providing sustainability awareness throughout the company,” said Foliano. “It is vital that companies around the world become better corporate citizens and have clear sustainability objectives in place to ensure that their corporate growth does not harm the generations of the future. For ADTRAN, implementing these procedures is about doing the right thing—not only as a technology provider, but as a global company—as these types of changes affect the entire planet.”
