Achievement Underscores the Company’s Ongoing Commitment to Strict Security Standards for the Federal Market in the US and Canada
CHATSWORTH, Calif. —August 24, 2016—MRV Communications™, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVC) (“MRV®”), a global provider of innovative packet and optical solutions for service providers, data center operators and enterprises, today announced that the LX Series, MRV’s Out-of-Band Networking (OOBN) solution, has completed the re-validation process for Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2. The successful completion of this certification highlights MRV’s ongoing commitment to supporting network administrators in their battle against cyber threats.
Mandated and enforced according to the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), FIPS 140-2 is a required federal government security standard in the U.S. and Canada for cryptography modules that include both hardware and software components. FIPS 140-2 certification allows for higher degrees of security and offers remote management, data encryption, digital signatures, information protection, as well as other security features.
MRV’s LX Series was the first OOBN solution to gain FIPS 140-2 validation in 2007. The company’s latest FIPS 140-2 certification reaffirms its position as an industry leader that provides highly secure networking solutions for federal government agencies in both the US and Canada, and for the contractors and service providers who serve those federal markets.
The LX Series of console servers, the central component in MRV’s OOBN solution, delivers remote access, power control, and environmental monitoring with high availability and adherence to strict government security standards. The LX Series provides network managers a remote management solution for running, configuring, troubleshooting and upgrading a broad range of network infrastructure equipment from numerous vendors. Through its latest FIPS 140-2 certification for software version 6.1.0, the LX Series continues to meet the latest government-mandated security enhancements for deployment in installations that require FIPS 140-2 devices.
“All US and Canadian federal agencies face cyber security threats that are growing in frequency and intensity and, as a result, network operators face a daunting challenge to ensure that the management of the network infrastructure is as secure as the data traveling over the network itself,” commented Adam Scheer, Senior Vice President of Product Management and Corporate Development for MRV Communications. “MRV’s recent completion of the FIPS 140-2 certification demonstrates our steadfast commitment to protecting our customers’ mission critical networks. Consistent with MRV’s standard practice, our new software release can be deployed on currently installed LX Series devices, thereby protecting and maximizing our customers’ LX investments.”
