Innovating with, and for, the Public Safety Community

Every connection matters. But we believe no connection is more important than the one capable of saving a life.

That’s why at AT&T, we’ve been dedicated to serving public safety entities for nearly 140 years. We’re innovating and evolving the technologies we provide to first responders, so they can focus on what they do best – protecting our communities.

And that’s a huge, mission-critical job.

Think about this past month alone. We’ve seen flooding, fires, tornadoes and multiple shooting events across the U.S. No matter the catastrophe, first responders rush to the scene. From call to car to crisis, they’re there.

The information and tools they need to both respond to and handle the situation need to be there, too.

That’s where we come in. We’re making this possible with Next Generation 9-1-1 capabilities like AT&T ESInet™. It enables the receipt and delivery of rich data from the public. This includes voice, text and video sent from wireless phones[i]. AT&T ESInet also automates call overflow between Public Safety Answering Points (also known as PSAPs) and disaster recovery locations. Using AT&T ESInet, agencies can more easily and quickly route 9-1-1 calls.

When every second counts, this is critical. And so is the ability to stay connected during an emergency. That’s why we offer first responders priority access to the network via AT&T Dynamic Traffic Management.

But the opportunity to innovate for public safety entities doesn’t end there.

Help make our communities safer

We’re calling on you – the creative visionaries, the ideators and the change agents – to join us at our 7th public safety hackathon. Together, we’ll explore ideas to help make our communities even stronger and safer.

The event is this weekend, taking place alongside the Shape: AT&T Tech Expoin San Francisco. Come create apps that solve the unique needs of our first responders and public safety entities.

With less than 24 hours on the clock, you can use the soon-to-launch AT&T IoT Starter Kit to help turn your ideas into reality. The tool can enable the quick creation of hands-free apps for first responders. Apps that may enhance their ability to effectively and efficiently react to emergencies.

Unlike other hackathon challenges, the outcomes won’t just be innovative. They could be life-saving.
