WANRack Completes 33 mile High-Speed Fiber Optic Wide Area Network Spanning 2 School Districts

240 Gigabit Network Infrastructure Serves Nearly 20,000 Students

WANRack announced today the completion of a robust city wide 10 Gigabit fiber optic Wide Area Network (WAN) connecting 25 sites across two school districts in the city of Yuma, Arizona.

The 33 mile private fiber network, constructed by WANRack, will offer 10 Gigabit per site for a total of 240 Gigabits citywide.

“This project has been one of WANRack’s largest successes to date. The size and scope, combined with the complex permitting requirements over Federal, State, and Municipal rights of way (ROW) now provides the local community with limitless scale when selecting a local fiber provider,” said Rob Oyler, WANRack President. “The City of Yuma staff was instrumental in seeing the vision and impact this network provides not only to the local schools, but the community as a whole. We want to especially thank them for embracing this large project.”

WANRack specializes in providing private fiber optic WAN solutions for K-12 school districts nationwide. Their unique design model allows the company to provide lit or dark fiber solutions that provide superior bandwidth, scalability and security as compared to traditional cable or telephone company offerings, often at a significant cost savings.

“WANRack delivered an incredible solution on schedule making our technology better, easier, and at less cost,” said Dean Farar, Director of Technology for the Yuma Educational Technology Consortium, which jointly supports both districts. “The best part was turning the service on for the first time; there were zero issues and our new 10-Gigabit service has continued to work flawlessly since. We couldn’t be happier with the results!”

“Since our first meeting with WANRack this project has been handled in a very professional manner,” said Ricky Rinehart, City of Yuma Deputy City Administrator. “This project has been a win-win for not only the school districts, but the partnership forged between WANRack and the City will benefit our community for years to come”.
