Assurance of better IP connectivity and greater coverage expansion
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and Hurricane Electric (HE) have today announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement, enabling both Companies to accelerate their common goal of delivering high-speed internet broadband services to the emerging markets of Asia.
As a leading provider of fiber network throughout the region, TM is particularly well-positioned to enable the growth of HE’s footprint in Asia, now and in the coming years. The terms of the Agreement call for TM to leverage its ownership in multiple Asia-Pacific submarine cable systems linking the major regional hubs to new and growing markets in Asia. TM participates in key regional cable projects now underway, including MCT, B2JS, SMW5, BBG and others.
In utilizing these expanded capabilities, HE shall empower TM with significantly enhanced global IP reach. As the world’s largest IPv6-native internet backbone, HE offers a market-leading platform to enable TM’s continuing expansion into Beyond Connectivity services, including Cloud and Media/ Video Streaming services.
Noting the strategic synergies of the Agreement, TM’s Global & Wholesale’s Executive Vice President Rozaimy Rahman said, “This strategic Agreement between TM and HE harnesses the strengths of both Companies, and positions each of them to lead the Asia-Pacific market in emerging technologies. Particularly compelling, TM’s partnership with Hurricane Electric facilitates the successful rollout of TM’s 100Mb UniFi Pro and UniFi Biz Pro services to the Malaysian consumer and enterprise markets – strengthening TM’s position as a market leader in delivering converged IP based services.”
Adding to this, Hurricane Electric Chief Executive Officer Mike Leber said, “This Agreement propels both TM and HE forward in their shared objective to create and deliver next-generation IP based services to users throughout Asia.
