19 February 2016 — Ottawa, Canada — CENX, the global leader of orchestrated service management and assurance solutions for physical and virtualized networks, today announced it has successfully interoperated with Ixia, Mitel, and VMware to demonstrate comprehensive real-time assurance of mobile data services for virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC). Using CENX’s Exanova Service Intelligence, mobile service providers can rapidly realize high quality of experience (QoE) for VoLTE, VoWiFi, and data enterprise and consumer subscribers, over large-scale, hybrid networks including vEPC. The demonstration will be shown at Mobile World Congress 2016.
Market demand for reliable Internet of Things (IoT), dynamically scalable connectivity, and cloud services is driving service providers to expand differentiated service offerings, and leverage the agility, elasticity and cost-efficiency of NFV infrastructure (NFVI). Real-time, continuous monitoring and analytics of millions of network events is crucial to provide operations with actionable, automated intelligence to deliver high enterprise and consumer service QoE across multi-vendor, hybrid networks.
The CENX, Ixia, Mitel, and VMware demonstration showcases optimized real-time service assurance, within the context of Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO):
- CENX’s Exanova Service Intelligence provides end-to-end visualization, performance monitoring, and analysis of the real-time state of services across all segments of the multi-vendor network path, pinpointing fault root cause and impact on subscriber QoE;
- Ixia’s IxLoadTM Wireless delivers full-featured application testing of wireless networks and components, emulating real-world subscriber traffic from LTE and WiFi Offload base stations to mobile core at scale, for fast-tracking new network services with proven quality;
- Mitel’s vEPC virtual functions provide the feature-rich, high-performance evolved Packet Data Gateway(ePDG) and Packet Gateway (PGW) platforms for secure connections over untrusted non-3GPP WiFi or 3GPP-compliant LTE access networks;
- VMware vCloud® NFV™ enables CSPs to deploy a unified, multi-vendor and multi-function NFV platform that supports any application at all stages of cloud evolution. The vCloud NFV platform includes production-proven NFVI Solutions, openness in cloud management through VMware Integrated OpenStack and Service Assurance with Day 2 and Ongoing Operations.
“Mobile and NFV technologies continue to innovate at a tremendous pace, and we’re excited to be collaborating with industry leaders, Ixia, Mitel, and VMware, to bring comprehensive solutions to market,” said Jay McMullan, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, CENX. “With Exanova Service Intelligence’s real-time visualization and detailed KPI analytics, operators can quickly navigate their network, isolate faults, and trigger automated workflows for proactive service assurance. This ensures high subscriber satisfaction, driving top line revenues, and also makes the most of infrastructure investment, netting bottom line gains.”
“Ixia is excited to be working with CENX, Mitel, and VMware to enable virtual Evolved Packet Core verification and validation,” said Ixia’s Scott Westlake, Vice President of Business Development. “As carriers accelerate their transition to NFV, it’s critical that Lifecycle Service Orchestration solutions provide scalable and realistic performance, resilience and security testing to deliver high quality services.”
“Mitel has been an early adopter of NFV and understands well both the tremendous flexibility and the potential complexity of fully virtualized network solutions,” said Terry McCabe, CTO of Mitel’s Mobile Division. “Working with CENX, Ixia, and VMware gives us a sophisticated set of management and analytics capabilities to operate our 4G LTE network solutions with an intelligence that matches the subscriber services that we enable.”
“Working with our broad ecosystem of NFV partners, VMware is driving the next evolution in business transformation for global service providers,” said David Wright, vice president of operations, Telco NFV Group, VMware. “Through this type of collaboration with CENX, Ixia, and Mitel, we will collectively give service providers the confidence to quickly move from proof of concept to production NFV to accelerate time-to-market and overall service assurance for new and differentiated offerings.”
