New GigaCenter solution leverages Compass software to enable service providers to transform into gigabit experience providers over Active Ethernet and GPON
ORLANDO – February 22, 2016 – Calix, Inc. (NYSE:CALX, news, filings), the world leader in enabling service providers to deliver a gigabit experience to their subscribers, today announced the addition of the 844GE GigaCenter to the award-winning GigaFamily of premises service delivery platforms. When combined with Calix Compass Consumer Connect Plus software, the 844GE GigaCenter enables service providers to deliver an unmatched broadband experience while enjoying the flexibility of auto-detect technology that allows service delivery over both Active Ethernet networks and gigabit passive optical networks (GPON). The 844GE is designed to co-exist with XGS-PON and NG-PON2 networks as these technologies come to market in the future. Like all other GigaCenters in the Calix portfolio, the 844GE features the unprecedented coverage and throughput of Carrier Class Wi-Fi, which has the capacity to dramatically alter service deployment economics and improve the device-enabled subscriber experience – especially when combined with the powerful remote diagnostic and experience monitoring capabilities of Compass software applications.
“Over the last decade, we have built an extensive Active Ethernet network in Middle Tennessee,” said Ray Cantrell, general manager and CEO at Ben Lomand Connect. “The network is one of our biggest assets and allows us to deliver symmetrical gigabit broadband services to our subscribers. Now, with the combined 844GE and Consumer Connect Plus solution, we have the ability to move inside our subscribers’ homes to deliver an unparalleled Wi-Fi experience, allowing them to get the most out of bandwidth-intensive applications from any mobile device.”
Today’s broadband subscriber demands a superior Wi-Fi experience within their homes. With Calix Compass Consumer Connect Plus software and the 844GE GigaCenter, service providers can deliver this experience by providing the strongest and highest quality Wi-Fi signal in the home and position themselves as the center of in-home broadband connectivity. Once established, service providers are able to offer their subscribers a truly personalized end-user experience based on usage trends – and continue to refine and customize it over time. The ability to provide dynamic and specialized packages best suited to each subscriber’s broadband needs is transformational to the service provider business model and allows them to stay one step ahead of their subscribers as well as their competition.
“Auto-detect technology is just one example of the many years of Calix access innovation across the solution portfolio, which now extends into the GigaCenter family with the 844GE,” Shane Eleniak, vice president of product line leadership at Calix. “While the 844GE gives Calix customers seamless migration and flexibility options, its combination with Compass Consumer Connect Plus software also enables end-to-end visibility within the subscriber home. This solution is a powerful tool in our customers’ journey to own the subscriber home, whether that home is connected via GPON or Active Ethernet.”
