OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), December 10, 2015 – Michael Miess joins Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) as president of the North Carolina and South Carolina Region. Based in Charlotte, he will be responsible for sales strategy, network oversight, customer service, marketing communications and general operations supporting the full portfolio of Sprint products and services from enterprise to consumer in North Carolina and South Carolina. Miess will report to Jaime Jones, area president of the South.

Miess’ appointment follows Sprint’s announcement that it will restructure the company into four geographic areas – West, Central, Northeast and South – with targeted resources devoted to 19 top markets, including Charlotte. Under Miess’ leadership the company will develop market-specific offerings serving the unique local needs of consumer and business customers in the South.

The South geographic area covers Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Central Texas. It encompasses more than 1,311 company-owned or Sprint-branded retail stores.

Miess joins Sprint from Windstream Communications in North Carolina, where he served as a vice president for enterprise sales and account management. His previous tenure includes positions with T-Mobile, Time Warner and Alltel.
