Zayo Announces Organizational Changes

New organizational structure to drive global growth

Global bandwidth infrastructure provider Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (“Zayo” or “the Company”) (ZAYO) today announced organizational and leadership changes that will enable Zayo to intensify focus in key strategic areas and continue to accelerate global growth. Zayo will reorganize along two principal operating units: Strategic Business Segments, reporting to co-COO Chris Morley, and Global Sales and Customer Success, reporting to co-COO Matt Erickson.

“Today’s announcement represents the next step in Zayo’s evolution,” said Dan Caruso, chairman and CEO of Zayo. “Over the past eight years, we’ve grown from a start-up to an almost $1.5 billion revenue bandwidth infrastructure leader. These changes will accelerate our positive momentum and intensify our focus on key global opportunities.”

The Strategic Business Segments will encompass our revised reportable segments consisting of:

  • Dark Fiber Solutions, including Metro Dark Fiber, Intercity Dark Fiber and Mobile Infrastructure product groups. Dave Jones, who has been with Zayo since 2012 as the leader of Mobile Infrastructure, will serve as executive vice president, Dark Fiber Solutions.
  • Network Connectivity Services, including Wavelengths, Ethernet, IP, Video, and SONET product groups. Max Clauson, who has led both IP Services and Wavelengths and has been with Zayo since 2011, will serve as executive vice president, Network Connectivity Services.
  • Colocation and Cloud Infrastructure will include Zayo’s current Cloud and zColo product groups. Greg Friedman, who currently leads the Ethernet team and has been with Zayo since 2010, will serve as executive vice president, Colocation and Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Also reporting to Morley are Dan Enright, executive vice president of Field and Construction Services, and Greg Hadlock, executive vice president of Network Management.

Zayo will publicly report as four segments, Dark Fiber Solutions, Colocation and Cloud Infrastructure, Network Connectivity, and Other, beginning with second quarter results for fiscal year 2016.

The Global Sales and Customer Success team includes:

  • Sales, reporting to Glenn Russo, President
  • Sales and Solutions Engineering, reporting to Anthony Lingis, vice president
  • Strategic Marketing and Alliances, reporting to Dennis Kyle, senior vice president
  • Tranzact, IT, Big Data, Billing and Client Services, reporting to Sandi Mays, executive vice president
  • Security, reporting to Robert Johnston, senior vice president

Other key leadership appointments and announcements include:

  • Karl Maier has joined Zayo as president of International and will replace David Howson, who recently announced his decision to leave Zayo after five years with the company. Reporting to Maier are Alastair Kane, managing director of Zayo U.K. and Ireland, Florian Du Boys, CEO of Zayo France, and Bruce Garrison, senior director of Global Reach. Maier has more than 15 years of experience leading international telecommunications and technology businesses. Most recently, Karl was CEO of Market Force Information, an international provider of customer intelligence solutions to many of the world’s leading retail companies. He co-founded Market Force and led its growth through a combination of organic expansion and acquisitions.
  • Chris Yost will serve as interim General Counsel, replacing Scott Beer, who has decided to leave after eight years with the Company.
  • Stephanie Copeland, president of zColo, who decided to resign to spend time with her family.

They are valued colleagues and friends.”
