Oscilloquartz to Showcase the Future of Timing and Synchronization at ITSF 2015

Multiple Demonstrations to Reveal New Solutions for Cost-Effective, Highly Accurate Phase and Frequency Delivery

November 02, 2015

This week we’ll show that we’ve achieved something that none of our competitors has managed. Our new technology enables network designers to do things that were once impossible.
Oscilloquartz, an ADVA Optical Networking company, announced today that it will showcase the future of timing and phase synchronization at the 2015 International Telecom Sync Forum (ITSF). The company will host multiple demonstrations centered on five key areas, including the value of sync probing and the timing challenges presented by LTE-A. Vital to the showcases will be Oscilloquartz’s newly announced product range. This includes the OSA 5401 Syncplug™, a small form-factor pluggable PTP grandmaster clock with ultra-compact design, and the OSA 5420, a series of advanced grandmaster clock devices. Demonstrations will take place in Booth 12 from Tuesday, November 3 until Thursday, November 5. Members of Oscilloquartz’s team will also host a series of speaking sessions that will examine the key challenges ahead for timing and phase synchronization. What’s more, Oscilloquartz is the official host and sponsor of the icebreaker session.

“We’ve looked at what today’s synchronization networks need and at where the industry is headed. Increasingly, all market verticals require timing to be reliable, resilient and affordable. Operators demand total visibility and the freedom to deploy sync devices at any point in the network,” said Nir Laufer, product line director, Oscilloquartz. “This week we’re unveiling a range of solutions that directly address these needs. We’re showing how our OSA 5420 series is unique in the industry. No other frequency and phase synchronization solution delivers this combination of precision, reliability and cost-efficiency. With its large remote slave capacity and temperature-hardened design for flexible deployment, we’ll demonstrate how our OSA 5420 series provides unparalleled value. And with our OSA 5401 Syncplug™, which delivers superb performance despite its minute form factor, we’re directly addressing the demand for more small cells and radio heads in mobile networks.”

Mass migration to the cloud and the boom in 4G make finding precise, resilient and low-cost synchronization solutions an urgent priority. Oscilloquartz’s demonstrations will uncover the challenges of rolling out more and more phase-ready networks that can deliver LTE-A and LTE-TDD. They will explore new time delivery technologies such as alternatives to global navigation satellite systems and innovative technologies for resilient timing. The new additions to the Oscilloquartz portfolio are designed to deliver the accurate phase and frequency information that the next generation of networks needs. The OSA 5420 series improves reliability, reduces cost and monitors timing performance with Syncjack™. The OSA 5401 Syncplug™ delivers unprecedented space and energy efficiency. As well as the demonstrations, there will also be key presentations delivered to the entire conference by several of Oscilloquartz’s leading experts in network timing and synchronization.

“One of the reasons we’ve come so far this year is the strategic investment we made in Time4 Systems. That’s given our latest innovations another layer of specialist expertize and enabled us to drive synchronization deeper into the access network,” commented Gil Biran, general manager, Oscilloquartz. “This week we’ll show that we’ve achieved something that none of our competitors has managed. Our new technology enables network designers to do things that were once impossible. It creates an architecture where timing can be deployed at the edge and where total stability is achieved without the need for rubidium. One of the joys of ITSF is being able to present our latest advancements to so many industry professionals, to other experts who understand how innovative and valuable this technology is. When service providers see the benefits they’ll receive from our OSA 5401 Syncplug™ and the OSA 5420 series, they’ll be as excited as we are.”
