Level 3 Launches Global Media Partners Program

New Collaborations Provide Improved Broadcast Coverage around the World

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Nov. 11, 2015 – Media companies have a growing need to provide content to audiences worldwide, spurring Level 3 Communications (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) to launch the Global Media Partners Program (GMPP). GMPP is a collaboration comprised of production facilities, teleports and media hubs connected to Level 3’s Vyvx broadcast network – enabling customers such as film production companies, national news organizations and television production companies to produce and transmit their video content all over the world.

Key Facts:

  • According to an analysis conducted by Lucintel, the global broadcast media industry is expected to continue its expansion and reach approximately $597 billion in 2017.
  • GMPP is designed to offer rapid, turn-key broadcast services for a variety of televised events, including awards shows, sporting events and late-breaking newscasts.
  • In collaboration with its members, Level 3 enters a market to deploy the equipment and connectivity needed to broadcast an event, which is then delivered over its global Vyvx fiber network.
  • Level 3’s GMPP is comprised of 36 partners, including Telelatino Network (TLN), the first Canada-based broadcaster to join the program. As part of the collaboration, TLN offers studio rental, satellite downlink, satellite trucks, on location crews, and equipment and studio space for pre-and post-production work.
  • Through GMPP, broadcasters can connect to more than 500 markets in over 60 countries.

Level 3 Video Cloud services include live Vyvx broadcast video acquisition, encoding and transcoding, global media delivery via the Level 3 content delivery network (CDN), as well as comprehensive, self-service analytics and reporting.

Key Quote:

Anthony Christie, CMO

“More of our media customers are distributing their content on a global level. This can typically make for a complicated process and require multiple vendors. Through Level 3’s Global Media Partners Program, media companies can reach their desired multinational audiences via one point of contact, allowing them to spend more time focusing on the content than the delivery.”
