Peering arrangements open up connectivity options for customers

Phoenix, AZ, September 21, 2015 – PhoenixNAP®, a global IT services provider offering cloud, dedicated server, colocation, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) technology solutions, announced today it is part of the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX). The not-for-profit, neutral and independent AMS-IX platform interconnects more than 700 IP networks and has peaks of business traffic of more than 4 Terabits per second.

“The levels of connectivity businesses, individuals, and the world demand are continually rising,” said Ian McClarty, president of phoenixNAP. “Keeping pace with those demands can be a challenge, and that’s exactly what exchanges like AMS-IX help to overcome. Leveraging the inherent peering relationships of the exchange, our clients can efficiently have global traffic distributed, in order to quickly reach end users regardless of their location.”

PhoenixNAP will have a 10 Gbps uplink port running to AMS-IX from its Amsterdam data center location. This port will provide access to the peering network and can also be leveraged for hybrid cloud solutions across data center locations.

“We are honored that phoenixNAP has selected AMS-IX in Amsterdam to be the first Internet Exchange in Europe where it will start peering,” said Mark Cooper, CCO at AMS-IX. “PhoenixNAP’s presence at our platform contributes to the diversity and breadth of services available to the AMS-IX community and allows them to offer their end-users more stable, fast and cost-efficient Internet services.”

“For years the Netherlands has been seen as a digital gateway of sorts for Europe,” added Martin Wielomski, business development manager EMEA for phoenixNAP. “The exchange at AMS-IX is certainly a major contributor to that distinction, and we are excited to have the opportunity to offer more traffic options for our clients. Additionally, this opens up the potential for clients to easily implement and scale hybrid virtualized environments utilizing multiple data center locations.”
